What is meant by "cheat synching" in PvP?
Okay, I have definitely run across teams that actually do call and follow. That's almost cheating in RA since I've never been on a team that can do that.
Still, I did run into the assassin once that I just thought was ubelievably fast. She had me dead before I could get off a basic skill chain. I mean not even close. During the 1s cast time of my hex, I was hurt, and by the time I moved into my chain, I was dead. Literally under 3 seconds for a full 500+ health bar. Now, I did notice when I looked at the skill chain that killed me that there were a lot of paragon skills. Now that I have heard the phrase "synch cheating," I'm guessing that's what the P and the A were doing? They nailed me on the rez too in like 4s. I didn't understand at the time why, when I found the assassin on another team, she wasn't so hot. I was worried about her, so I made sure to get an SS on her early. She basically just typed backtalk at me from there and didn't do anything. We totally clobbered her team like 13 to 3 on the kill count map. Ok, so how do they do it? Is it just an illegal mod or something? How do you even know if someone else is on your team using the mod if so? How do you synch up? I assume there's nothing you can do, or can you report it? It's always scary to report when they actually ban people for reporting. |

In RA, it's just making sure you all press the enter battle button as close together as you can. With a bit of luck, you and your desired teammates will all be teamed together, giving you an unfair advantage as you're builds and professions will synergise.
It's not a mod, hack, cheat, or anything like that, but it's definately an exploit which needs to be fixed.

Anyway, as Marty said, syncing is not a cheat or hack. It's synchronized entering of the RA match, usually in abandoned districts, which gives a high likelyhood of being on the same team as someone else. This gives you an advantage in the form of being able to coordinate builds and have extra communication available (such as ventrilo). |

I don't understand these people, why don't they use Team Arenas if they want to play together?

Because they suck at TA, or they RA first to get the 10 win streak, which they could get in TA if they didn't well...suck
And people that sync in DA make me lol, I'd like to see them on the PuG side of the match. They wouldn't want to DA either. |

What the hell are you on about? Just because we sync together doesn't mean we 'only' ever play when syncing together. Lots of DA syncers play with pugs. It's a lot more fun...

Personally, I find nothing wrong with syncing. I do it with my friend when we have the time because well, its more fun to RA with friends than random people.
Also, the quality of RA players has become so bad that many times, I am forced to monk for more than four minutes with a great looking team just because they can't get one kill, and I die after. It really helps to have a friend who can go out there and kill the other monk in 30 sec with dev hammer or backline and provide constant pressure with a ff/soul bind necro. We can get 10 rather consistently, even when the other two players aren't good. |

Call and follow isn't cheating, it's teamwork. Hard to come by not only in RA but everywhere else too.
Syncing has a grey area in other modes like JQ/FA since there is no team version on those sides. But then again syncing on Kurzick = frustrating lol. |

Agreed refer.
What happened to you was not syncing. You just got beaten by a better team. Syncing does not happen that often in RA. I think I've faced about 5 sync teams total in all my time in RA (which is a lot more time then I'm willing to admit). A lot of people think syncers are a much bigger problem then they are because they assume that when they lose to a good team, that good team must have synced. But that's bogus. Syncing teams always have a very well balanced classes. ie, if there isn't a monk, then it isn't a sync. If there is a sin and a paragon, no way there is a sync. I actually have been accused of syncing like 5 or 6 times, but have never done it once. Having a good team does not mean you cheated. Several times I've been accused of syncing when our team didn't even have a healer. Clearly we were not syncing. New players need to stop blaming their losses on phantom syncers, and get better. |

It probably isn't a sync if there is no Monk BUT there is not always a Monk to sync with, so it could very well still be a sync still. People don't all play balanced and proper, sometimes they just sync for fun even if not that compatible. Any syncing in my mind is cheating in RA though. It's supposed to be random. Even if only 2 people sync they could be really powerful with the right bars.

If you stay in American Districts, it's unlikely that you'll ever face a sync team. Just stay away from the other districts and you'll be fine.

The thing that pisses me off about it all is that in an extremely close match they'll shit talk the RA team until it gets booted. |

Then if you hate it so much, stay in American like I do. The fact that I have been accused of syncing when I haven't means the problem is a lot smaller then perceived. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has happened to.

Because it's not very fun to sit around for 5-10 mins in between each match only to play some lame build in TA. Most people who sync RA do it because it's a quick and casual way you can play short games with friends.
